The Body Wash Heist Happened Again But This Time, We Got It Back

We never thought there would be a Part 2.

In 2024, more than 16,000 bottles of Mirai Clinical body wash disappeared while being transported to our Reno warehouse. They were never recovered.

After that experience, we made one important change: we started hiding our own GPS tracker inside our shipments.

Two years later, that small decision changed everything.

The Call Before the Pickup

On Thursday, September 3, 2026, one day before the scheduled pickup, an employee at our California manufacturer received an unusual phone call from the truck driver.

The driver specifically asked whether the Mirai Clinical products had already been loaded and were ready for pickup.

This stood out because drivers don't normally call the manufacturer in advance to ask whether a specific customer's shipment has been loaded.

It seemed strange, but there was no reason yet to believe anything was wrong.

The next day, that phone call would take on a very different meaning.

Two GPS Trackers, Two Different Stories

On Friday, September 4, a truck picked up 16 pallets of body wash and three pallets of deodorant sticks from our California manufacturer for delivery to Reno.

Everything appeared normal.

The trucking company's GPS showed the truck moving toward Reno, exactly where it was supposed to be going.

But our team checked something else: Mirai's own GPS tracker, secretly hidden inside the actual cargo.

It wasn't moving.

We refreshed the GPS.

Same location.

Our products appeared to be sitting somewhere in the middle of the California desert.

How could the truck be heading toward Reno while our products were somewhere else?

That's when the memory of our 2024 heist came rushing back.

Could this really be happening again?

The truck was going to Reno.

Our body wash wasn't.

The Search Begins

We immediately contacted the transportation companies and law enforcement and shared the location of our hidden GPS.

But finding the cargo wasn't as simple as following a dot on a map.

The GPS appeared to point toward a fenced property with a large warehouse-like building in the middle of the desert. Police went to the area Friday night, but they couldn't see the truck or our products.

GPS locations aren't always perfectly precise, and police couldn't simply enter and search private property based on the GPS location alone.

We knew approximately where our products were.

But we couldn't get to them.

Throughout Friday night, we kept monitoring the GPS and following up with police about every two hours.

We kept trying until midnight.

But with police unable to enter the property, there was nothing more we could do that night.

We had no choice but to wait until morning—while our GPS continued showing our cargo in the same place.

Saturday: We Kept Trying

On Saturday, September 5, our hidden GPS was still showing the same area.

We kept calling law enforcement and asking what else could be done.

We contacted multiple private investigators to see whether they could legally gather additional information. We explored whether aerial images could help and also contacted an attorney for advice.

But that day, we were stuck.

All we could do was keep calling, keep waiting, and keep watching the GPS.

Sunday: Finally, a Search

On Sunday, September 6, police were finally able to search the property.

After days of waiting, we thought this was it.

Police went in.

They found nothing.

No truck.

No body wash.

No deodorant.

We couldn't understand it. Had the cargo been moved? Was the GPS pointing to the wrong place?

For a moment, it felt like 2024 all over again.

Then, about two hours later, we received a call we weren't expecting.

Police had found our cargo.

We weren't told exactly where it was recovered, but we believe it was found somewhere in the same general area.

The body wash was recovered.

The deodorant was recovered.

After three days of tracking, calling, waiting, and wondering if we would ever see our products again, we finally got them back.

Before this happened, we never thought of Mirai Clinical as a brand big enough to become a target for cargo theft.

But now it's happened twice.

Mirai has grown. We're a bigger brand now, and with that growth comes new risks we have to take seriously. Being targeted again made us realize that our security has to grow along with our brand.

In 2024, our body wash disappeared and never came back.

This time, one small GPS tracker changed the ending.
